The highly anticipated Cadillac Celestiq was finally revealed in its production form in mid-October 2022, showing off the luxury marque’s all-new, completely electric ultra-luxury flagship sedan. Cadillac Society has spotted Celestiq prototypes undergoing testing in the past, and now, we’ve spotted yet another example sporting a rather interesting getup of carbon fiber body panels.
The body panels of this particular Cadillac Celestiq aren’t perfectly matched in hue, although they all seem to feature a matte black appearance. This is par for the course for prototypes, which are often unpainted so as to accelerate development.
It’s also worth noting that while the front fascia is camouflaged with a black and white wrap, the rest of the ultra-luxury sedan’s body lacks camo, although the doors appear to be wearing a wrap.
This prototype’s rear quarter panels, all the way up to the C-pillar, are composed completely of carbon fiber. According to the luxury marque, the use of carbon fiber allows designers to “create distinctive forms not possible with traditional metal body panels.” However, that doesn’t mean that the Celestiq doesn’t feature metal body panels of any kind. In fact, the Celestiq features a metal grille, header, rockers, taillamp and headlamp trim, bodyside trim and trunk liner. Additionally, other components will be 3D printed, including many interior elements.
At this time, it’s not clear if the bare carbon fiber panels seen on this Cadillac Celestiq prototype indicate that customers will be able to opt for an unpainted carbon fiber weave look. It may not be out of the realm of possibilities, as the Celestiq is touted as being the most customizable Caddy ever, allowing customers control over even the most minute aspect of the ultra-luxury sedan’s design. In order to allow such finite attention to detail, the Celestiq will be completely hand-built – save for certain battery and drivetrain parts – at the GM Global Technical Center.
In terms of power, the 2024 Cadillac Celestiq features a 111 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive propulsion system. Cadillac estimates that this configuration will deliver approximately 300 miles of driving range on a single charge while providing a whopping 600 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque, enabling the ultra luxury sedan to sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds.
