This Is Why The Cadillac XT5 Might Have A Front End Rattle Or Clank

Some owners of 2020, 2021, 2022 or 2023 model year Cadillac XT5 may have noticed that their vehicle has a front end rattle or clank under certain conditions. The luxury marque is aware of the issue and has provided a solution for vehicles that present with this unwanted sound.

The rattle or clunk that some customers notice under the hoods of the Cadillac XT5 in the aforementioned model years could be related to a loose strut or sway bar. Additionally, a loose or mispositioned or improperly torqued cradle brace could also be at fault. A cradle brace is a flat bar that is attached to the center of the engine cradle, which can be seen in the illustration below as part #1.

A technician can determine if the root cause of the clunk or rattling sound is caused by the cradle brace by removing the cradle brace and listening to the vehicle as it drives over small bumps or while turning. If the sound is no longer present, it was likely related to a loose or mispositioned cradle brace.

In order to fix the problem, a technician will reinstall the cradle brace, checking to make sure the bolts are torqued to spec. The bolts used to secure the cradle brace are single-use torque-to-yield fasteners, meaning new fasteners must be installed when putting the cradle brace back. This will ensure that it does not work itself loose again in the future.

Production of the 2023 Cadillac XT5 began on June 10th, 2022 at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee. Pricing for the base XT5 luxury starts at $45,590, the Premium Luxury trim starts at $53,340, and the XT5 Sport starts at $58,490.
