The drop in Cadillac China sales during the second quarter of 2022 represents the fourth consecutive quarterly drop experienced by the luxury brand in the Chinese market. In fact, the marque’s sales volume started to drop in China during the third quarter of 2021 as a result of lower available inventory caused by the semiconductor shortage. In fact, the 36,900 units delivered in Q2 2022 represents the lowest quarterly sales volume Cadillac has seen in recent years in China.
Since Cadillac does not share sales of each model line in the Chinese market, it’s currently impossible to determine which vehicles were most affected by component shortages and production issues. However, the latest reports revealed that the Cadillac CT5 has established itself as the marque’s best-selling model in the Asian country due to the high popularity that sedans continue to enjoy in the local market.
