2023 Cadillac Lyriq Officially Launches In China

The all-new 2023 Cadillac Lyriq has officially launched in the Chinese market.

Cadillac’s joint venture in China, SAIC-GM, officially announced the launch of the battery electric crossover at a special presentation in Shanghai, announcing suggested starting prices for each of the three variants available in the Asian country. The luxury marque also began taking orders for the Lyriq.

There was a slight name change to the available trim levels for the Lyriq, which is Cadillac’s first all-electric vehicle. The base model will retain the Luxury moniker, but the higher-level trims will now be called Prestige instead of Premium. The base Cadillac Lyriq Luxury AWD has a suggested price of 439,700 CNY ($65,890 USD), while the Lyriq Prestige RWD starts at 459,700 CNY ($68,870 USD). Finally, the range-topping Lyriq Prestige AWD has a suggested starting price of 579,700 CNY ($71,870 USD).

The rear-wheel-drive variants utilize a single Ultium Drive motor mounted on the rear axle, supplying 342 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque and boasting 312 miles of driving range. The Prestige AWD model adds a second motor to the front axle, delivering 503 horsepower and 524 pound-feet of torque with 287 miles of driving range from a full charge.

Cadillac also announced that deliveries of long-range models will commence this September via the IQ Store network, while the Prestige AWD models will hit dealers in early 2023. Production of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is already underway at the Jinqiao China plant in Shanghai.

Test drives are expected to become available at dealerships in July, and interested parties can place a 5,000 Yuan ($750 USD) deposit to secure their orders.

“Lyriq signifies the beginning of a new era for our iconic brand and is only the beginning for our transformation to an all-electric portfolio,” said Vice President of Cadillac in China, Chris Biggs, in a statement. “It will appeal to today’s generation of tech-savvy Chinese consumers who value Cadillac’s stunning design and its history of over a century of innovation. This groundbreaking product introduces the unique luxury EV experience that will be a signature of all Cadillac EVs.”
