Wireless Smartphone Charging Returns To 2022 Cadillac XT5

Wireless phone charging has returned to the 2022 Cadillac XT5Cadillac Society has learned.

All units of the 2022 Cadillac XT5 that normally included the wireless smartphone charging feature (production code K4C) as standard are once again being built with the feature intact. Wireless phone charging is standard on the XT5 Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels, and is not offered at all on the base XT5 Luxury trim.  Previously, the feature was constrained as of July 2021, as the luxury marque elected to withhold it in response to the ongoing global microchip shortage.

While the wireless smartphone charging feature has been reintroduced, other features affected by the semiconductor shortage remain constrained. Heated and ventilated seats are currently being withheld from the luxury crossover, along with heated steering wheels. Cadillac indicated that once the microchip shortage eases, it will be able to retrofit these features in vehicles that were assembled without them.

Additionally, new units of the 2022 Cadillac XT5 are currently shipping without certain park assist features, including Rear Park Assist along with Front and Rear Park assist. At this time, it’s not clear if the technology could return for the 2023 model year or if availability will continue to be restricted.

As a reminder, the Luxury and Premium Luxury trim levels of the 2022 Cadillac XT5 are powered by the turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY) as standard, which is rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. These models wear the 350T moniker on the liftgate. The naturally-aspirated 3.6L V6 engine (production code LGX), rated at 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque, is optional on the Premium Luxury trim and standard on the Sport trim. XT5 production takes place at the Spring Hill Plant in Tennessee.
