Due to various setbacks stemming from the global COVID-19 pandemic and other supplier issues, the planned refresh for the Cadillac XT4 has been pushed back several times. Now, though, Cadillac Society finally caught a refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4 prototype as it was undergoing testing, giving us an early look at the new model.
This particular prototype appears to be the XT4 Sport trim, identifiable by the black daylight opening (DLO) treatments and roof rails.
There’s not much visible through the heavy camouflage wrapping the front and rear ends of this prototype, concealing the fascias. We do know, however, that the forthcoming XT4 will feature a revised front end with new lighting treatments that fall in line with the luxury marque’s signature vertical lighting while incorporating the newfound design direction of horizontal lighting elements, similar to the design language used on the Cadillac Lyriq.
Also note the wheels, which appear to be new – as the current XT4 doesn’t offer the pattern seen here. The wheels are hiding a set of red brake calipers, which were an optional upgrade available for the 2021 model year XT4 before being discontinued for the 2022 model year.
The interior looks far different from the current XT4. Inside, we find a large curved screen similar to the curved displays inside the fifth-generation Escalade along with the Lyriq. This concave screen spans the instrument panel and the center stack, combining both into what appears to be a seamless display. We also know that the upcoming 2024 Cadillac XT4 will feature the luxury marque’s advanced driver assist system, Super Cruise, which has been previously unavailable on the compact crossover.
We expect the 2024 Cadillac XT4 to retain a singular engine option: the turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY). Under the hood of the pre-refreshed 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 model year XT4s, the boosted gasoline four-cylinder makes 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.
