2022 Cadillac XT5 Sees Return Of Heated And Ventilated Seats

The 2022 Cadillac XT5 is once again being built with the heated and ventilated seat features, Cadillac Society has learned.

Beginning with May 1st production, all units of the XT5 that normally include heated and ventilated seats are rolling off the assembly line with the features once again. The comfort features were previously constrained as of March 14th production, as Cadillac elected to withhold them as a result of the ongoing global microchip shortage.

Under normal conditions, heated front seats (production code KA1) are included as standard on all Cadillac XT5 trim levels, including Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport. It should be noted that the XT5 Sport trim level was unaffected by the constraint on this feature while Luxury and Premium Luxury trim were assembled without it. Heated outboard rear seats (production code KA6) are normally equipped on the XT5 Premium Luxury and Sport trim, and are not offered on the base Luxury trim.

Meanwhile, ventilated seats (production code KU9) are optional on the Premium Luxury and Sport trim, and are not offered at all on the base Luxury trim. As with the heated front seats, the Sport trim level remained unaffected by the constraints placed on ventilated seats earlier this year.

As of this writing, the heated steering wheel comfort feature is still being withheld from the 2022 Cadillac XT5, along with front and rear park assist technology. It’s not clear if or when these features could return.

As a reminder, the 2022 Cadillac XT5 is offered with a choice of two engine options. The turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY) is rated at 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Models with this engine feature the 350T badge on the liftgate. Additionally, the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 engine (production code LGX) is rated at 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. Models with this powerplant feature the 400 badge out back.

Production of the luxury crossover takes place at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.
