While all the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Editions are spoken for, interested customers won’t have to wait too long to secure Cadillac’s new luxury electric crossover for themselves. That’s because order books for the 2023 Lyriq will open on May 19th, enabling dealers to order the Lyriq via the same order process as other Cadillac models.
Cadillac originally planned to implement a reservation system for new units of the Lyriq once the very first units, known as Debut Edition models, have landed. However, interest in the Lyriq proved to be stronger than expected, and the luxury marque opted to forgo another round of reservation in favor of opening order books as soon as possible. Considering that reservations for the Debut Edition sold out in just under 10 minutes, bringing the Lyriq to the regular ordering process is crucial for Cadillac to ensure that customer demand is met.
As Cadillac Society exclusively reported just last week, the Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition is scheduled to enter production on March 21st. Assembly will take place at the Cadillac Spring Hill plant in Tennessee, where Cadillac plans to significantly ramp up its production of electric vehicles throughout the 2022 calendar year.
The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition rides on the new BEV3 platform and features a 100.4 kWh lithium-ion Ultium battery pack and a single Ultium Drive motor mounted on the rear axle. The electric driveline is rated at 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, and Cadillac estimates the Lyriq will have 300 miles of range on a full charge. The Debut Edition is only available in two exterior colors – Stellar Black Metallic and Satin Steel Metallic – but we fully expect more color options to become available when regular order books open up in May.
Additionally, Cadillac Society recently learned that an all-wheel-drive Lyriq is on the way. Dubbed the Lyriq Performance AWD, the luxury electric crossover will feature a second motor mounted on the front axle, therefore lending it higher levels of power and torque. Production of the Lyriq Performance AWD is expected to begin in late 2022 for deliveries in early 2023.
