2022 Cadillac XT4 Gets Limited Reverse Automatic Braking Availability

The 2022 Cadillac XT4 will have limited availability of the Reverse Automatic Braking feature due to the ongoing global microchip shortage, Cadillac Society has learned.

Specifically, all units of the 2022 Cadillac XT4 produced after January 3rd, 2022 will not have the Reverse Automatic Braking feature.

On the XT4, Reverse Automatic Braking (production code UVZ) is offered as part of the Driver Assist Package (production code Y66). The Driver Assist Package is optional on the 2022 Cadillac XT4 Sport and Premium Luxury trim levels. It is not available on the XT4 Luxury (base) trim. Pricing for the Driver Assist Package is $1,100 under normal circumstances.

Aside from Reverse Automatic Braking, the Driver Assist Package normally includes the following features (relevant production codes in parentheses):

    • Adaptive Cruise Control (KSG)
    • Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking (UGN)

Opting for the Driver Assist Package on the 2022 Cadillac XT4 will automatically include the Driver Awareness Package (production code Y65). This package is priced at $470 and is available on all trim levels. The Driver Awareness Package usually includes the following content (relevant production codes in parentheses):

    • Following distance indicator (UE4)
    • Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning (UHX)
    • IntelliBeam auto high-beams (TQ5)

Reverse Automatic Braking is the latest feature to be deleted from Cadillac vehicles in the wake of the ongoing global microchip shortage. In December 2021, Cadillac Society reported that all of Cadillac’s crossover offerings, including the XT4, would experience limited availability of parking assist features.

Most of the luxury marque’s lineup is also affected by limited heated steering wheel availability, as well as limited availability of heated and ventilated seats. Cadillac later announced that it would be able to retrofit both of the aforementioned features sometime in 2022.

At this time, it’s not clear if Cadillac will offer retrofitting for Reverse Automatic Braking, or if it will issue a credit for units of the 2022 Cadillac XT4 built without the feature.
