The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is well on its way to production, and curious fans – along with interested buyers – are slowly learning everything they can about the battery electric luxury crossover, which also happens to be the very first Cadillac electric vehicle. The luxury marque recently uploaded a video to its YouTube channel presenting a full walkaround tour of the Lyriq, providing a good look at what to expect when the EV finally launches in 2022.
The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq seen in the video is painted in Satin Steel Metallic coupled with a black interior. The 450E badge out back denotes the powertrain – 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet. That torque figure translates to 440 Nm, which Cadillac then rounds up to arrive at the 450 figure, while the “E” (somewhat obviously) stands for “electric.”
This Lyriq is equipped with rear wheel drive and features a 100.4 kWh lithium-ion Ultium battery pack and a single Ultium Drive motor mounted on the rear axle. As of this writing, that’s the only powertrain configuration available, but more options, including all-wheel-drive and more power, are expected in the future.
The Cadillac Live representative explains that the unique front fascia is “the new face of Cadillac.” Since the Lyriq’s front end is not bound by constraints necessary to cool an internal combustion engine, designers were granted a new plane of creative liberty. One of the results of this newfound freedom is an expressive Black Crystal shield with embedded LEDs that “greets” the driver as they approach with a choreographed lighting sequence, bringing the Lyriq to life.
The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq boasts an interior that “breaks convention to bring the sensual and the technical together.” The video shows off some details like laser-etched patterns in the trim, black ash wood, and stylish upholstery stitching. In addition, there’s a state-of-the-art AKG sound system with 19 speakers placed throughout the cabin, including integration into the headrests for the ultimate surround sound experience.
In September, Cadillac opened reservations for the 2023 Lyriq Debut Edition, which it sold out in a matter of ten minutes. More units of the “regular” production model are expected to be made available in the near future.
