The upcoming 2022 Cadillac XT4 crossover will introduce a few changes and updates over the current 2021 model year, slotting in as the fourth model year of the crossover’s current generation. Among the updates will be the deletion of three exterior colors.
The debut of the 2022 Cadillac XT4 crossover will delete the following exterior colors from the lineup (relevant paint codes included in parentheses):
- Shadow Metallic (GJI)
- Garnet Metallic (GLR)
- Autumn Metallic (GM6)
Each of these hues was available across the trim level lineup with the 2021 Cadillac XT4, and each offered for an extra cost of $625. They will eventually be replaced with three new colors.
In addition to deleting these three exterior colors, the 2022 Cadillac XT4 will also drop the Near Field Communication (NFC) tech, as Cadillac Society covered previously. NFC offers a short-range communication link between two electronic devices for an easy, wireless linkup, such as between a mobile device and the onboard infotainment system. The tech will be deleted with the introduction of the 2022 model year, as phone pairing has improved and only a portion of cell phones still offer the feature.
The 2022 Cadillac XT4 was originally set to debut a refresh for the crossover nameplate. Now, however, the model refresh has been delayed to the 2023 model year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. When it arrives, the 2023 Cadillac XT4 is expected to deliver a range of changes, including revised exterior styling, new interior enhancements, and updated technology features, including the introduction of the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assist system to the nameplate.
Currently, the 2021 Cadillac XT4 is offered exclusively with the turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder (engine code LSY) gasoline engine, which is rated at 235 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm. The turbo four-cylinder connects to a nine-speed automatic transmission, with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive available.
