2020 Cadillac XT5 Mirrors Gain This One Small Feature

After three years on the market with relatively minor changes, Cadillac’s popular XT5 luxury crossover is getting a refresh for the 2020 model year headlined by a handful of exterior updates, a few changes to the interior, a completely new trim level structure, a new turbo-charged four-cylinder engine, a new nine-speed automatic transmission and a washer for the Rear Camera Mirror. But one of the more subtle changes is related to the vehicle’s outside mirrors.

Integrated turn signal on the outside mirror of a 2020 XT5

The 2020 Cadillac XT5 gains integrated turn signals within the outer-most edge of the outside mirror, something that the 2017, 2018 and 2019 XT5 models did not have. The change is very subtle and minor, but one that’s welcome nonetheless, as it helps other motorists see the direction in which the XT5’s driver is signaling. Meanwhile, the actual mirror and its pedestal-style attachment point remain the same as before.

Overall, the 2020 Cadillac XT5 offers two kinds of outside mirrors. The first are body-color, heated, power-adjustable and manual-folding. These are included on the Luxury trim, which serves as the base model. The second include all of the aforementioned features, but replace the manual-folding feature with power-folding. These are included on the Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels. Both mirror types have the new integrated turn signals.

Besides improving visibility for other motorists, the new turn signal indicators help set the 2020 Cadillac XT5 apart from the three prior model years. So if you happen to work at a Cadillac dealer and need to quickly identify a 2020 model, or are just into identifying random vehicles on the road, an XT5 with an integrated turn signal indicator in the mirror is a tell-tale sign that you’re looking at a refreshed, 2020 model.

  1. Would be nice if the mirrors would fold in and out based on the opening and closing of the door. Instead of requiring manual operation.
Lincoln had it in 2015 vehicles.

    • There isn’t a way to auto fold or unfold the mirrors, unfortunately. The only way is to do so via the button on the door or via the steering wheel. Here’s to hoping this changes.
