Cadillac F1 CEO’s Comments On Ford Red Bull Racing Ruffle Feathers

Move over Ford Vs Ferrari, because a domestic Cadillac Vs Ford showdown is in the making. Sparking the comparison is Ford CEO Jim Farley’s recently response to commentary made by Cadillac F1 CEO Dan Towriss. Perhaps the controversy will add some spice to the race season, which recently kicked off. That said, this isn’t the first time that shots have been fired.

For those who missed it, Towriss told a reporter that the two rivals were completely different, with Ford’s being a “marketing deal with very minimal impact,” according to a report by The Athletic. Meanwhile, Cadillac and its parent company, General Motors, are “deeply embedded from an engineering standpoint, and they were involved from day one.”

Ford’s response to Towriss’s comments indicate his words may have ruffled a few feathers, according to a report from The Drive.

“All I will say is, it’s laughable,” Farley was quoted as saying when asked about Towriss’s comments.”It’s not even worth discussing. It doesn’t merit a comment.” Meanwhile, Ford Racing head Mark Rushbrook clarified that Ford was indeed “in there” with its “sleeves pulled up.”

As we alluded to earlier, this isn’t the first display of hostility between the two automakers. Back in August of last year (2025), Rushbrook threw shade at the Cadillac F1 team, when he told a reporter that “Cadillac will be in Formula 1 in 2026 – with Ferrari engines!”

Of course, this will change once Cadillac begins producing its own power units, which it’s set to do by 2030. Comparatively, Ford is supplying certain engine tech as part of its collaborative efforts, though it isn’t currently signed on to build the power units.

From where we stand, it sure looks like Cadillac has a bit more to be proud of than its cross-town rival when it comes to Formula 1 involvement.
