The Cadillac CT6-V stirred plenty of excitement when it hit the market for the 2019 model year. However, its nearly six-figure base price put it out of the reach of many enthusiasts. Although depreciation has made it more obtainable, a recent transaction highlights the fact that values for second- and even third-hand models have been relatively stable. Take, for instance, this lightly used 2020 CT6-V with just 16,000 miles, which recently sold on Bring A Trailer, for $70,500 before fees and taxes. For reference, the original MSRP was just under $96,000.
First and foremost, the Cadillac CT6-V draws power from a twin-turbocharged 4.2-liter V8, which was a revolutionary masterpiece (for Cadillac). In addition to its dual-overhead cam (DOHC) powerplant (production code LTA, otherwise known as the Blackwing engine) in a hot-v configuration, the CT6-V is also equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drivetrain. Unfortunately, this coveted combo was discontinued after just two model years, with a total of 915 CT6-V units produced. Notably, a slightly less powerful version of the short-lived V8 was available in the CT6 Platinum, of which 285 were made.
Of course, as a top-tier flagship model, the high-performance sedan was offered with the luxury marque’s latest gizmos and gadgets, including adjustable Magnetic Ride Control (MRC), Cadillac’s patented Rear Camera Mirror plus a 360-degree camera system, the then-newest iteration of the CUE infotainment system, a 10.2-inch display screen, and a Bose Panaray system with a whopping 34 speakers. Although this particular model isn’t equipped with it, the CT6-V was also available with Cadillac’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assist technology.
As a seemingly clean specimen that’s loaded with all this content and a rather rare powertrain, we think this Cadillac CT6-V will be quite enjoyable for its new owner. Its Satin Steel Metallic exterior over Dark Auburn interior makes for a striking color combination, too. That said, our temptations to buy our very own CT6-V are cooled by the awareness of its unique parts. Yes, it may be more depreciation resistant than a base model CT5. However, it uses a multitude of unique components – including the engine and electronics – not found in other Cadillac models. As such, sourcing replacement parts may not be the most convenient. This also applies to techs who are capable of working on this rather unique vehicle.
What do you think? Is this Cadillac CT6-V a solid purchase? Sound off in the comments below.

The Cadillac CT6 is a great car…I miss my 2020 every time I climb into my 2023 CT5

Frank,I agree I have a CT6 2020
IT RUNS LIKE NEW.
I TAKE IT TO Paul Conte in Long Island and I live in Brooklyn!
I test drove the 5 and it has no appeal as the 6.
The staff told me if I wanted a new CT6 I’d have to go to China!
Alot of people are asking for it.
Anyway,have a happy New Year!

I own a 2020 CT6 Premium Luxury with the base V6 motor but all the other fun parts like Magna-Ride, Rear Wheel Steering, Super Cruise, Bose Panaray, etc. I LOVE my ride and, though I’d dearly love this hotrod V8, my powertrain is fairly bullet proof and trouble-free so I’m quite content with it. Every Cadillac enthusiast I meet uniformly agrees that GM should never have cancelled this model in the US and I’m therefore doubly grateful to own one. It’s my daily driver- I enjoy the heck out of it every day!

We have a 2020 CT6 Premium Luxury in Shadow Metallic with Sahara Beige interior. It is loaded with all wheel drive, rear steering, Super Cruise, rear seat entertainment, heated & ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, rear shades, dual panoramic sun roof, magnetic ride suspension and any other box on the order form was checked. Sadly GM and Cadillac decided that nobody in the US wants a full sized sedan anymore. China got the second generation that was developed here. GM lost a life long customer!

My 2020 CT6 Platinum Crystal White Tri-coat has every option offered. It is in perfect condition with only 5641 miles on it today. My wife and I have limited our use of it due to our own debilities of aging. It looks like it won’t be too long before someone will be able to obtain what could arguably be one of the most prized “used cars” ever available.

Let me know when you want to sell.

I have a 2020 CT6 that I still love. I leased it for 3 years and then bought it because I liked it so much. Cadillac had nothing that interested me (and still doesn’t) so I continue to keep it. About every 6 weeks, someone I see at a retail store lot will say to me, “that’s a beautiful car, is it new”?
My favorite comment in a parking lot came from a woman who said, “that car is too pretty to drive”!

We have a 2020CT6 Premium Luxury in Shadow Metallic with Sahara Beige interior. It has AWD, all wheel steer, Super Cruise, rear seat infotainment system, rear shades, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, magnetic ride suspension, carpeted mats, all weather mats, trunk liner, panoramic sunroof and if there was an option it was checked when we ordered it. It is a great car and our second CT6. GM/Cadillac made a huge mistake cancelling the car for the US and then developing a second gen car for China here in the states.
Not all drivers want a CUV, SUV, definitely not a EV or a pickup. Many of us still want a full sized sedan. A CT5 is not a full sized sedan is not a luxury car. GM lost a life-long buyer by dumping the full sized sedan from Cadillac.

One of the BEST cars Cadillack ever produced Except for the 1998 – 2004 Cadillack Seville SLS / STS Series with the V-8 Northstar Engine that Leaked or Consumed Oil like a Sieve or Blown Head Gaskets that the “Accountants” cheapened up from the Engine Engineers! original design (Fine Threads vs Coarse Threads on the Head Bolts)! Duh!!!
