If you’ve been keeping up with the latest Cadillac Society reporting, then you already know that the luxury marque is reconsidering its plans to discontinue the Cadillac XT5. We now have some more news to share on this front.
Cadillac is now in the midst of considering the viability of bringing the second-generation Cadillac XT5 to the U.S. market.
The next-gen Cadillac XT5 was introduced for the Chinese market last year. It’s essentially a re-bodied version of the outgoing model on the outside with an updated cabin. The overall architecture, named C1, is the same, meaning the chassis bits are nearly identical, with minor improvements.
The China-market XT5 features a mild hybrid powertrain, which pairs the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a 48-volt electric motor.
It’s very possible for this next-gen Cadillac XT5 model to find its way to U.S. market, as production of its C1 platform mate, the Chevrolet Blazer, is set to be relocated from Mexico to the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee. That same plant currently produces the XT5, XT6 as well as the Lyriq and Vistiq.
