The latest monster to come out of Hennessey Performance Engineering is a Cadillac Escalade-V H1000 which – as the name implies – has over a thousand horsepower crammed under its hood.

In order to demonstrate the prowess of their creation, Hennessey pitted their Cadillac Escalade-V H1000 against the Lamborghini Huracán EVO RWD, a contest you can see in the video below:

The Hennessey Cadillac Escalade-V H1000 provides surprising results for a vehicle that weighs in at a pavement-pounding 6,217 pounds, twice that of the Lambo’s approximate 3,128 pound curb weight. Despite the ton-and-a-half difference, the Escalade-V manages to initially outpace the Huracán off the starting line. It achieves this feat both from a “dig” – with both vehicles at an initial dead stop – and from a “roll” – with both already in motion when the drag race starts.

The Huracán quickly catches up to the H1000, enabled by its lighter weight and ample power. But the tuned Escalade, despite its blockier form factor, immense weight and substantially higher seating capacity, manages to hold its own fairly well, passing the finish line about two car lengths behind the Lambo.

Hennessey achieved the outstanding performance of the Cadillac Escalade-V H1000 by fitting the performance luxury SUV with a number of upgrades, including an upgraded supercharger, camshaft, cylinder heads and throttle body, plus a custom tune. The result is 1,005 horsepower and 882 pound-feet of torque in the H1000 – a 47 percent increase in power and 29 percent increase in torque over the 682 horsepower and 683 pound-feet of torque found in the stock Escalade-V.

By comparison, the Lamborghini Huracán EVO is powered by a 5.2L V10 engine with Multi Port Injection and Direct Stratified Injection rated at 640 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. A seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox sends power to the rear wheels.

As for the H1000, it’s worth noting that Hennessey offers a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty on the built Escalade-V. Production of the vehicle – which is already fully sold out – is limited to 100 units.
