The luxury D-sedan segment shrank 14 percent to 56,914 units during Q2 2024, meaning CT5 sales underperformed the segment average.
Cadillac CT5 sales were in the red for the third consecutive quarter, likely as a result of the inbound 2025 CT5 refresh. However, production of the updated model was delayed, finally kicking off in May at the Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan, while assembly of the high-performance CT5-V only began in July. Production of the potent CT5-V Blackwing has yet to commence. With all that in mind, it’s possible that a lack of CT5 supply at the dealer level is to blame, at least partially, for the downturn in sales last quarter.
In fact, units of the regular (non-V-Series) Cadillac CT5 only began landing on dealer lots in June, meaning that the refreshed model wasn’t on sale long enough to impact sales volume for the second quarter. We fully expect the refreshed model to boost Cadillac CT5 sales over the coming months as inventory becomes more plentiful.
It’s worth noting that the highly-competitive segment is shrinking, as Volvo discontinues the S60 and Infiniti drops the Q50.
One of four new colors for the 2025 model year.
And it now represents the best value in its segment.
A curious sighting from a video of the Cadillac design studio.
