2025 Cadillac Optiq Will Be Eligible For $7,500 EV Tax Credit

The 2025 Cadillac Optiq made its North American debut in early 2024. The electric luxury crossover slots below the Lyriq in the luxury marque’s EV utility lineup, making it a more affordable choice for buyers interested in a luxury battery electric vehicle. Now, we’ve learned that the new Optiq will be eligible for the Federal EV Tax Credit.

Cadillac parent company, General Motors, reiterated this fact in its Q2 2024 earnings report. Pricing for the 2025 Optiq starts at the $54,000 mark, including destination freight charges (DFC), making it a viable option for buyers looking to take advantage of the $7,500 Federal EV Tax Credit.

As a reminder, the tax credit has two limits based on vehicle type and MSRP. To be eligible for the tax credit, the MSRP of SUVs, pickup trucks and vans can not exceed $80,000 USD, while that of other electric vehicles (like sedans, hatchbacks, coupes, and convertibles) can not exceed $55,000 USD. The Optiq is in the $80,000 category, meaning that all trims are eligible for the discount.

For the U.S. market, the 2025 Cadillac Optiq features a standard two-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain delivering 300 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. From a full charge, the Optiq is capable of delivering a maximum 300-mile driving range, supported by Regen On Demand and one-pedal driving. Inside, its 33-inch diagonal LED display handles the instrument cluster behind the steering wheel and infotainment controls stretching into the electric luxury crossover’s center stack. Production is expected to kick off in the Fall 2024 at the Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.
