Updated Cadillac XT6 Will Debut This Year In China

Just over five years ago, the 2020 Cadillac XT6 was revealed as the largest luxury crossover in the luxury marque’s lineup, finally giving Cadillac a three-row utility vehicle outside the Escalade. Since then, the XT6 has soldiered on largely unchanged for the subsequent 2021 2022, 2023 and 2024 model years, but that will soon change, as Cadillac Society recently learned that an updated XT6 will be revealed in China this year.

2023 Cadillac XT6

A vehicle launch schedule from SAIC-GM, Cadillac’s joint venture in the Asian country, seen by Cadillac Society shows that the “new” XT6 will debut in 2024. In fact, the upcoming XT6 is among the four vehicles soon to be launched by Cadillac in China, which also include the Escalade IQ, Optiq and Vistiq battery electric models. Considering that the term “new” for SAIC-GM typically signifies a mid-cycle refresh, it’s likely that the forthcoming updates to the XT6 will be similar to the ones we saw on the recently-updated XT4 or CT5.

While we have yet to spot any refreshed XT6 prototypes undergoing testing, we expect the forthcoming luxury crossover to feature a design language similar to that of the second-generation Cadillac XT5 and refreshed XT4. In fact, late last year, we rendered what a refreshed XT6 could look like, including a revised front end with more pronounced vertical lighting signatures extending down the front fascia and a set of headlights placed just inside the vertical strips. Our rendering also featured the horizontally-oriented turn signals,  and the luxury marque’s familiar five-point grille.

Initially, the future of the XT6 beyond the 2024 model year was murky, but as recently reported by Cadillac Society, the XT6 will in fact be offered for the 2025 model year in North America. However, it’s currently unclear if this will be the refreshed version or if it will simply be a continuation of the current model.

  1. Why cater to China only ,the United States buyers want the newer models too. In particular the XT5.

    • Let’s clear this up a bit: this news was dug up by Cadillac Society via our own sources, and was NOT provided by GM or Cadillac officially.

It’s quite possible (and probable) that an announcement is. coming for both markets in the near to medium future.

  2. Cadillac’s “China First” business strategy will eventually bite them on the ass, but not before they’ve completely alienated the majority of the loyal Cadillac customers that helped build the brand in the US.

  3. GM is unresponsive to the North America market. Does GM Marketing think providing news for China models is making US customers happy…NOT!!

  4. North America got the refreshed XT4, we’ll most certainly get the refreshed XT6 and I also believe we’ll get the new XT5. My only question is will the refreshed XT6 get the carryover 3.6 powerplant or the 2.5 Turbo with the 8 speed?

  6. Current XT6 owners. It’s been a great car for the $. No issues. Enjoyed driving it. It’s a 2020 and we’re getting close to upgrading. We will not buy the same model. It’s now dated. Been looking and waiting for some time on any confirmed info on a 25 refreshed version. Nothing yet. Might give the new Buick Enclave a look., or move on over to Lexus. Been driving Cadillac for 20 plus years and would love to continue., but we need a 3 row suv , that’s not an Escalade, and not electric. Cadillac, if you’re listening, give us some confirmed news on XT6 ‘s. Future here in the U.S., Please…
