The 2024 Cadillac Celestiq stands apart from the rest of the luxury marque’s lineup as Caddy’s new flagship, boasting myriad customization options and a blisteringly fast battery electric powertrain. Now, Cadillac Society takes a close look at the ultra-luxury electric sedan’s key fob.
Surprisingly, the Celestiq’s key fob isn’t all that much different from those of other vehicles Caddies. In fact, the form factor and materials of the Celestiq’s key fob are all the same as for any Cadillac on sale currently. The only difference is the addition of an extra button that activates the power-operated driver’s door, which is governed by electric motors that allow it to open by itself without the need to pull on the handle.
Other minor differences include two buttons in the middle of the fob that contain the Celestiq’s shape, with one button operating the frunk lid while the other controls the rear hatch door.
The mundane look of the key fob is interesting, considering just how over-the-top the rest of the vehicle is, including its $340,000 starting price. That said, the back part of the fob features a panel that’s color matched to the exterior hue of the Celestiq it belongs to. In this case, it’s painted in Habanero, which is a striking orange-red paint.
Under the avant-garde styling, the 2024 Cadillac Celestiq features a 111 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive propulsion system. Cadillac estimates that this configuration is good for approximately 300 miles of driving range on a single charge while delivering a whopping 600 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque, enabling the ultra luxury sedan to sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds.
The electric ultra-luxury sedan will be hand built in very small numbers at the GM Global Technical center in Michigan, allowing its builders to craft even the most minute detail before being shipped to its buyers in the U.S. and China. Customers in North America will be guided through the design process at the Cadillac House at Vanderbilt.
