Cadillac Inventory Running At 47 Days’ Supply In September 2023

New Cadillac vehicle inventory was at 47 days’ supply in September 2023 , according to a report from Cox Automotive

That means that Cadillac dealerships had enough inventory on hand to answer current sales volumes for 47 days on average during September 2023. The industry average during the same timeframe was 57 days. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, a 60-day supply was considered optimal for U.S. auto dealers.

That puts Cadillac right in line with Subaru, which also ran at a 47 days’ supply in September, while tailing Hyundai and Chevrolet, each with 53 days’ supply. At 130, Dodge had the highest days’ supply, while Lincoln had 115.

The publication noted that ongoing United Auto Workers (UAW) strikes have had a negative effect on many automakers’ ability to produce and deliver vehicles to the dealer level, as Ford, Stellantis, and Cadillac’s parent company, General Motors, find themselves subject to the most severe effects. Such strikes could continue to disrupt vehicle production industrywide.

Even worse, the strikes are only now getting underway, meaning that the figures recorded during September may not reflect the full scope of the UAW’s effects on vehicle production. The ripple effect might become more noticeable in October as UAW members continue to strike.

It’s worth noting that none of the facilities responsible for production of new Cadillac vehicles have been affected by the aforementioned strikes so far. That means that the Lansing Grand River plant, the Arlington plant, Cadillac Fairfax plant, and Spring Hill plant remain online, with operations not interrupted by strikes directly, though it’s possible that supply chain issues stemming from the strikes could negatively impact production at these facilities.
