Some Cadillac CT5 Shift Levers Will Need To Be Replaced

Certain units of the 2023 Cadillac CT5 will need to have their automatic shift levers replaced, Cadillac Society has learned.

Fortunately, the problem with said shift levers isn’t mechanical. However, affected units were assembled with a leather-trimmed shifter instead of the optional sueded microfiber-wrapped shifter (production code 5CS). As a reminder, the sueded microfiber-wrapped shift lever is offered in conjunction with the sueded microfiber-wrapped steering wheel (production code 53S). Together, both options are priced at $300, and are offered on both the CT5 Sport, CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing. They’re not available on the CT5 Luxury or the CT5 Premium Luxury.

To ensure that customers get what they paid for, Cadillac will replace the incorrect leather shifters with the correct suede ones. The luxury marque indicated that 205 vehicles were affected by this condition, but it’s important to note that this estimate also includes units of the 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing. Dealers will service all vehicles subject to this issue through August 31st, 2025 at no cost to owners of affected vehicles.

As a reminder, the Cadillac CT5 Sport is powered by the turbocharged 2.0 L I4 (production code LSY), while the CT5-V is powered by the twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine (production code LGY). Finally, the range-topping CT5-V Blackwing features the supercharged 6.2L V8 engine (production code LT4). Under the skin, the CT5 range rides on the luxury marque’s Alpha 2 platform, and the luxury sedan is made at the Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan.
