The Start of Regular Production (SORP) of the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee has been pushed back by over a month compared to initial plans, Cadillac Society has learned from sources familiar with the matter.
Cadillac originally planned to start 2024 Cadillac Lyriq production on March 20th, 2023, but we recently learned that the 2024 Lyriq will instead begin rolling off the assembly line on May 4th, 2023.
A Cadillac spokesperson refused to confirm the date, but did state that the luxury marque is “on track to begin producing 2024 model year Lyriqs later this spring.”
It’s not clear at this time why 2024 Lyriq production was delayed, but it’s worth noting that in early March, a Cadillac spokesperson told us that the luxury marque focused on building all-wheel-drive units of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq before rolling over to 2024 model year production. It’s also worth noting that some 2023 Cadillac Lyriq orders were pushed to the 2024 model year.
As a reminder, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq represents the second model year for the luxury marque’s first all-electric vehicle. It introduces a handful of changes and updates, such as a revised trim level structure that includes the all-new base Tech trim, which is positioned beneath the Luxury and Sport trims as a more affordable option, while the high-performance Lyriq-V will become the new range-topping model.
As exclusively reported by Cadillac Society, the Lyriq-V will feature several unique styling and aerodynamic features that will help it stand out from non-V models. The bigger news will likely come in the form of a performance upgrade that will coax more horses out of its dual-motor setup. In fact, we recently spotted a prototype of the Lyriq-V undergoing testing, showing off its more aggressive exterior styling that sets it apart from the rest of the lineup.
Riding on the BEV3 platform, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq is offered in either rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive, with the former harnessing a single Ultium Drive motor on the rear axle, and the latter adding a second motor on the front axle. RWD models boast 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque while the AWD setup features 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. Both configurations offer just over 300 miles of driving range on a single charge.
