Cadillac Lyriq AWD Torque Rating Finalized In North America

The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is the first all-electric vehicle in the luxury marque’s lineup. While the initial batch of the all-electric luxury crossover are rear-wheel-drive only, a more powerful all-wheel-drive model is coming later on in the 2023 model year. Now, Cadillac Society has learned what the torque rating of the Lyriq AWD model will be for the North American model.

Cadillac has finalized the torque and power rating for the Lyriq AWD that will be sold in North America at 450 pound-feet of torque (610 Nm) and 500 horsepower (373 kW). That’s a healthy increase over the rear drive model’s 325 pound-feet of torque (440 Nm) and 340 horsepower (255 kW). The increase in power and torque is the result of a second Ultium Drive motor mounted on the front axle.

It’s worth noting that earlier this year, Cadillac China released its own torque figures for the upcoming Lyriq AWD model. Those figures stated that the electric luxury crossover would be capable of 524 pound-feet of torque, which is notably more than the North American variant. The reason for the discrepancy in torque ratings between the two markets is currently unclear.

As a reminder, the upcoming 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Luxury AWD model will feature an 11.5-kW charger that will be capable of adding approximately 37 miles of range in a single hour of charging (via 240 V2 charging). For comparison, the Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition as well as the RWD model net 52 miles per charging hour thanks to a 19.2-kW charging capacity. Additionally, the Lyriq AWD model will also be compatible with DC Fast Charging (DCFC) at available stations, netting 76 miles of range per 10 minutes of charging, right on par with rear-wheel-drive Lyriq units.

In addition, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Luxury AWD trim level will include the Trailering prep package as standard, with which the luxury electric crossover will be able to tow up to 3,500 pounds. The first AWD model is expected to begin production at the end of the year at the Cadillac Spring Hill plant in Tennessee before deliveries begin in early 2023.
