The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is the first of many battery electric vehicles to be produced by the luxury marque, boasting a next-generation design inside and out, while featuring vintage-inspired design elements and cutting-edge Ultium battery technology. Recently, Cadillac Society photographers spied a Lyriq prototype in Satin Steel Metallic undergoing road validation tests.
Satin Steel Metallic is one of four colors currently available for the luxury electric crossover, and is one of the two original colors that were offered on Debut Edition models. It’s a cool gray color with a metallic finish that accentuates the Lyriq’s carefully-crafted body lines while complementing the black LED “grille” that takes the place of a traditional grille on models with internal combustion engines.
This particular 2023 Cadillac Lyriq prototype appears to be fully dressed, and has no missing or placeholder body components, unlike what has been seen previously. Interestingly, the charge port door right behind the driver’s side front wheel appears to be taped shut.
The ensemble rides on the optional 22-inch Dynamic Split Spoke Reverse Rim alloy wheels, which sport a Polished/Gloss Black finish and aero inserts.
The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition was offered exclusively with rear-wheel-drive, as it was equipped with a single Ultium Drive motor mounted on the rear axle. That model, along with the Luxury RWD model, is rated at 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque while being capable of driving up to 312 miles on a single charge. Meanwhile, the Lyriq Luxury AWD model has a second motor on the front axle, granting more power along with all-wheel-drive traction. This configuration is capable of over 500 horsepower and 524 pound-feet of torque for an estimated 287 miles of driving range.
Production of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition is currently underway at the Cadillac Spring Hill plant in Tennessee, and deliveries are scheduled to begin very soon. Pricing for the Lyriq Luxury RWD model starts at $62,900, while the Lyriq Luxury AWD starts at $64,900. While those are the only two trim levels currently offered, a more complete trim lineup will become available, along with more exterior paint options, for the 2024 model year.
