2023 Cadillac Escalade To Gain Surround Video Recording System

The 2023 Cadillac Escalade and high-performance Escalade-V will feature the Surround Vision Recording System as standard on all trim levels, Cadillac Society has learned.

The Surround Vision Recording System works via a series of cameras affixed to various points around the vehicle, providing recorded video of its surroundings. Much like the 2021 and 2022 models, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade will have a camera seamlessly integrated into the body molding  on each door-mounted rearview mirror, one in the grille, and one mounted on the tailgate. From there, the feature allows drivers to store video of a particularly memorable drive, or as a security measure while the vehicle is parked.

While video is active, the recording system can capture video in two modes. The first uses the front and rear cameras for an expanded field of vision while the vehicle is in motion. The second uses all four cameras for a 360-degree view of the Escalade or Escalade-V when the security system is active. Footage can be transferred for viewing on a computer. Additionally, captured footage can be played back on the vehicle’s infotainment screen.

As a reminder, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade represents the third model year of the fifth-generation full-size luxury SUV. The “regular” Escalade is offered with two engine options: the first is the standard, naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 engine (production code L87), capable of 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This model wears the 600 badge on the tailgate. The second is the 3.0L I6 turbodiesel (production code LM2), rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, wearing the 600D badge on the liftgate. Both engines options bolt to Cadillac’s 10-speed automatic transmission driving either the two rear wheels  or all four wheels via the optional 4WD system.

Joining the Escalade lineup for the 2023 model year is the high-performance Escalade-V, which features the supercharged 6.2L V8 engine (production code LT4). That eight-cylinder is capable of a whopping 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque, making the Escalade-V the most powerful Cadillac ever built. The supercharged engine bolts to Cadillac’s 10-speed automatic transmission, throwing power to all four wheels for an estimated sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds.
