2022 Cadillac Escalade Onyx Package Can Now Be Ordered Again

2022 Cadillac Escalade Onyx Package Can Now Be Ordered Again

In January, Cadillac Society reported that supplier constraints recently limited the availability of the Onyx package for the 2022 Cadillac Escalade. But we’ve now learned that those constraints have now been lifted, and the dark accent package is now once again available to order.

The Onyx Package (production code PDB) is a dealer-installed package that dresses the Escalade with a set of dark exterior accents. The package includes the following features (relevant production codes in parentheses):

  • Monochrome Cadillac emblems (SFZ)
  • Gloss Black Escalade nameplate (RIK)
  • 22-inch 12-spoke Gloss Black finish alloy wheels (SSX)

The Onyx Package can be equipped on Escalade models in the Sport or Sport Platinum trim, and adds an additional $2,510 to the full-size luxury SUV’s price tag.

The restriction in January isn’t the first time that the package became unavailable, as the luxury marque has struggled with supplying certain 22-inch wheels in the past. Considering that the Onyx Package features a set of 22-inch gloss finish alloys, it’s entirely possible that supply constraints associated with the wheels affected the package’s availability this time around.

The 2022 Cadillac Escalade is the second model year of the luxury SUV’s fifth generation. It offers two engine options:

  • Naturally-aspirated 6.2L V8 engine (production code L87) capable of 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque
  • Turbodiesel 3.0L I6 (production code LM2) rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque

Models with the gasoline engine recently received an updated 10-speed automatic transmission, while units equipped with the diesel powerhouse retain the same 10-speed automatic as their 2021 counterparts.
