The Cadillac Society Take

Cadillac Canada sales suffered a notable decline during the third quarter of the year, as the luxury marque’s inventory continued to be below optimal levels as a result of the ongoing semiconductor shortage. The negative Q3 result marks an end to the five consecutive quarters of growth that Cadillac had recorded in Canada, where it had established itself as one of the fastest-growing luxury automobile brands.

Most Cadillac models saw a decline in sales volume during the quarter, including double-digit declines for the XT5 and XT4 crossovers that had traditionally been the marque’s best-selling models in the Canadian market. Meanwhile, the new Cadillac Escalade managed to continue its healthy growth streak, with solid increases for both the regular-length Escalade as well as the extended-length Escalade ESV. In fact, the third quarter of 2021 represents the first time that the full-size luxury SUV became Cadillac’s best-selling model in Mexico, with a combined total of 1,125 units.

Also noteworthy is the healthy increase in Cadillac CT4 sales, which surpassed the CT5 as the marque’s most popular sedan despite reduced inventory caused by the ongoing microchip shortage that has resulted in the idling of production of both models over the last few months. Fortunately, production of both sedans recently resumed at the Lansing Grand River, Michigan plant.
