Cadillac CT6 Recalled For Issue With Park/Position Lamp Intensity

Cadillac’s parent Company, General Motors, has issued a recall for certain units of the Cadillac CT6 to address an issue with the brightness of the outside Park/Position lamps.

The problem: affected units of the CT6 fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108, which outlines specifications for the vehicle’s “Lamp, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment.” The brightness of said lamps may exceed the values allowed in concurrence with Standard 108.

The hazards: Park/Position lights are forward facing lamps on the vehicle’s exterior. If they are too bright, they could pose a distraction to other drivers on the road, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix: dealers will install updated headlamp jumper harnesses in both the right and left sides of the vehicle. This should prevent the Park/Position lights from exceeding brightness specifications in the future. Since this requires two separate wiring harnesses to be removed and replaced, the repair is estimated to take 40 minutes. The service will be performed at no cost to the vehicle owner.

Affected components:

  • Park/Position lamps
  • Headlamp jumper harnesses

Affected vehicles:

  • 2016 Cadillac CT6
  • 2017 Cadillac CT6

Number of affected vehicles: Cadillac has indicated that a total of six individual vehicles have been affected by the action.

Next steps: owners of affected Cadillac CT6 models will be contacted by Cadillac with instructions to make an appointment with their dealer to correct the issue with the Park/Position lamps.
