2021 Cadillac Escalade Onyx Package Is Not Available To Order

The optional Onyx Package is no longer available to order on the 2021 Cadillac Escalade or 2021 Cadillac Escalade ESV full-size luxury SUVs, despite the option still being available on Cadillac’s online vehicle configurator.

Normally offered on the Sport and Sport Platinum trim levels, the Onyx Package is priced at $2,295, and features the following items:

  • 22-inch 12-spoke Gloss Black finish alloy wheels
  • Gloss Black Escalade nameplate
  • Monochrome Cadillac emblems
  • Puddle lamp with Cadillac crest

It’s the wheels, which carry production code SSX, that present the problem. They replace the standard 22-inch 12-spoke polished alloy wheels with Dark Android finish, and are by far the highest-value items in Escalade’s Onyx Package. Ordered as a stand-alone LPO (dealer-installed) accessory and priced at $1,995, the wheels are problematic because they are no longer available.

As Cadillac Society exclusively reported recently, the same situation also applies to two other 22-inch whees on the 2021 Escalade: the 12-spoke Chrome alloy wheels (production code SET) and Multi Spoke alloy wheels with Dark Android Gloss finish (production code SEY).

It is unclear at present when the availability of these 22-inch wheels will be restored, and whether this will happen during the remaining timeframe of the 2021 model year Cadillac Escalade. By definition, exactly the same thing would have to be said about the optional Onyx Package, of which the 12-spoke Gloss Black finish alloy wheels are the most important part.

Pricing for the Escalade models affected by the lack of Onyx Package available starts at $86,890, including destination charge. This applied to the rear-wheel-drive regular-wheelbase Escalade Sport fitted with either the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 EcoTec3 gasoline engine (production code L87) or the 3.0-liter I6 Duramax turbodiesel (production code LM2).
