After months of hype and numerous teasers, the day has finally arrived. The Cadillac Lyriq is slated to debut in just a few hours, heralding the luxury brand’s first step into the all-electric segment. The all-new battery-powered crossover model will be revealed in a livestream event at 7:00 p.m. EST, and you can watch it right here on Cadillac Society.
Originally scheduled for a reveal in April, the Cadillac Lyriq debut was postponed to August 6th in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the vehicle slated to debut today will technically still be in concept form, it will be near “production-ready.”
We already know that Caddy’s first EV will ride on the next-generation BEV3 platform, and it will use the automaker’s latest Ultium battery technology. Range-per-charge will be rated over the 300-mile mark.
The new Cadillac Lyriq will slot between the Cadillac XT5 and Cadillac XT6 with regard to exterior size. We also have a fairly good picture of what it’ll look like, given the front end will take after the unnamed EV concept that debuted in January of 2019, as well as more recent teasers for the rear fascia and the profile.
Inside, we expect to see a large 33-inch OLED digital display mounted on the dash, which will provide both the infotainment readouts and the driver readouts, similarly to the screen in the all-new 2021 Cadillac Escalade. The Lyriq will also offer Cadillac’s Super Cruise driver assist technology, as well as a raft of other high-tech features.
Production of the new Cadillac Lyriq will kick off at the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant in Michigan. Sales will follow sometime in the 2022 calendar year, with the Lyriq first sold for the 2023 model year.
