The 2021 Cadillac XT6 has arrived, debuting as the second model year for the “midsize plus” three-row luxury crossover SUV. The latest XT6 brings with it a new base-model Luxury trim level, following in line with the brand’s latest Y Trim level strategy.

“The new Luxury model allows XT6 to cover the 20 percent of the midsize luxury SUV segment price range where new customers are typically entering the luxury crossover market,” the brand states in a press release.

The new 2021 Cadillac XT6 Luxury is offered with the turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder (production code LSY). This engine was previously offered on the 2020 Cadillac XT6, but only for the Chinese market. Now, the engine is also offered on XT6 models here in the states as well. Output is rated at 237 horsepower, with the nine-speed automatic M3W transmission on hand for cog swaps. To note, the four-cylinder LSY is also offered on the CT5, CT4, XT5, and XT4.

The new XT6 Luxury also features several standard safety features and driver assists, such as Front and Rear Park Assist, Safety Alert Seat, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Following Distance Indicator, HD Rear Vision Camera, Forward Collision Alert, and IntelliBeam.

Visually speaking, the 2021 Cadillac XT6 Luxury trim comes with bright exterior accents and aluminum interior bits, as compared to the bright exterior accents and wood interior bits of the Premium Luxury. By contrast, the Cadillac XT6 Sport comes with black exterior accents and carbon fiber interior trim. Further distinguishing features for the Sport trim include Sport Control AWD, Continuous Damping Control, and quicker steering. The 2021 Cadillac XT6 Sport also comes with new 20-inch wheel design, with 21-inchers offered.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are featured across the 2021 XT6 lineup. There’s also new exterior color options, such as Dark moon Blue Metallic, Wilder, and Infrared Tintcoat.

  1. I was wondering when a “base” model would come along. We hear so much about Cadillacs “Y” model strategy. This requires 3 models to make any sense. But last year, when the XT6 launched, the press was talking about 2 models being available in keeping with the “Y” strategy.
