Cadillac XT6 Launches In Russia, Expanding SUV Portfolio

The first three markets where the Cadillac XT6 launched were the United States, Canada and China, where the crossover launched almost simultaneously during the third quarter of 2019. In January 2020, Caddy’s three-row luxury crossover became available in Japan, and now it has launched in Russia.

Cadillac initially opened the order books for the XT6 in Russia during the second half of the first quarter of 2020, and the vehicle has since been trickling into dealers. Much like in the United States and Canada, the Cadillac XT6 will be available in Russia in two trim levels: Premium Luxury and Sport.

The two trims exist in order to cater to different customer preferences. They feature different body accents as well as steering and suspension tuning in order to cater to different customer preferences. The Premium Luxury model features bright exterior accents and is optimized for a comfortable ride, whereas the Sport model features dark exterior accents and is tuned for a more sporty driving feel.

The main attraction of the Cadillac XT6 is its three rows of seating for up to seven passengers. In fact, the XT6 offers a segment-leading amount of third-row headroom and legroom. The second row can be configured either as a bench seats that seats three passengers, or as captain’s chairs for two, increasing passenger comfort but reducing overall seating capacity to six passengers.

All units of the Cadillac XT6 destined for the Russian market will be powered by the turbo-charged 2.0L four-cylinder engine (production code LSY). The boosted four is rated at a maximum of 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Up to this point, this powerplant has only been made available in China, since the XT6 sold in the U.S. and Canada is powered by the naturally-aspirated 3.6L V6 engine (production code LGX). Regardless of engine, all 2020 Cadillac XT6 models feature a nine-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Precision Shift technology.

In Russia, the Cadillac XT6 will start at 3,870,000 Rubles (roughly $60,800, at current exchange rates). Like all Cadillac models sold in Russia, the crossover will be imported from the United States, where it is assembled at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.

The all-new Cadillac XT6 is a key model for the luxury brand in Russia as it aims to achieve its objective to grow sales in the medium-term future. The XT6 joins the already-available XT5 and Escalade in Russia, while the XT4 will join the lineup later this year, completing Cadillac’s utility lineup in the market. The XT6 has also launched in South Korea and in the Middle East, but has yet to become available in Mexico or Europe.
