The 2020 Cadillac XT5 refresh has just launched in the Middle East, bringing over 40 improvements in design, features and powertrain to the midsize crossover that are intended to maintain the nameplate’s success in the marketplace. The launch of the updated XT5 comes on the heels of the regional launch of the new Cadillac XT6.
The 2020 Cadillac XT5 arrives in the Middle East with a slightly updated exterior, the brand’s latest infotainment system with physical rotary controls in the center console, a new trim level structure, and a new 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the base option. These developments allow the 2020 XT5 to harmonize with other Cadillac utility vehicles – the XT4, XT6, and 2021 Escalade, all of which follow the same trim level structure.
“We are proud to present to our customers in the region the revamped 2020 Cadillac XT5 SUV – complete with the latest tech and a revised design giving customers an unrivaled experience on the road,” said Managing Director Cadillac International Operations and Cadillac Middle East, Christian Soemmer, in a press release.
“The Cadillac XT5 joins our first ever XT6 three-row crossover and the successful XT4, along with the iconic Escalade, meaning our customers in the Middle East now have access to one of the industry’s freshest lineups of luxury crossovers and SUVs for 2020,” Soemmer added.
As in the U.S. market, the 2020 Cadillac XT5 is offered in the Middle East with three trim levels: the base Luxury model, followed by Premium Luxury and Sport. These correspond to Cadillac’s Y trim strategy, which aims to satiate the tastes of customers with distinctive finishes and personas. The Luxury and Premium Luxury models have a traditional look with bright accents, while the Sport model features a darker and more aggressive appearance.
The turbo-charged 2.0L engine (production code LSY) is standard in the Luxury and Premium Luxury models, making a maximum of 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The new four-banger complements the existing, naturally-aspirated 3.6L V6 engine (production code LGX), which makes 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. The six is standard on the XT5 Sport and available on the Premium Luxury. Both engines are exclusively coupled to a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The 2020 Cadillac XT5 is already on sale in the Middle East, where it still remains the luxury brand’s best selling model. As has been the case since the launch of the XT5 in 2016, units of the 2020 XT5 destined for the Middle Eastern market are manufactured at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee, United States.
