As Cadillac Society exclusively reported just recently, the very first units of the 2020 Cadillac CT5 are due to arrive at dealers across the United States at the very end of December, before arriving in significantly higher volumes in the first quarter of the 2020 calendar year. And now, the very first units of the all-new sedan arriving at dealerships, right in time for the end of December timeframe.
It would seem that most of the 2020 Cadillac CT5 models that have arrived at dealers over the past few days are the Premium Luxury trim, with only a handful of models being the Sport trim. We have yet to see the base-level model in the Luxury trim level arrive at a dealer as of this writing. All models are powered by the base turbo-charged 2.0L four-cylinder engine (production code LSY), as Premium Luxury and CT5-V models with the optional twin-turbo 3.0 V6 engine (production code LGY) will go into production later on for the 2020 model year.

The launch of the Cadillac CT5 was delayed slightly as a result of various factors, including the UAW labor strike orchestrated against its parent company, General Motors. The walkout, which lasted over a month, prevented the Lansing Grand River plant from commencing serial production of the sedan. Luckily, production is now well underway and the very first units are now at dealers. By comparison, the Cadillac Jinqiao plant in China was not impacted by the same disruption, allowing the CT5 in China to go on sale weeks prior to doing so in the Americas.
The Cadillac CT5 is the latest sedan from Cadillac. The vehicle indirectly replaces the ATS and CTS as the luxury brand’s D-segment entry to take on the likes of the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4, Infiniti Q50, Volvo S60, and the Alfa Romeo Giulia, among other models.
