2019 Cadillac XT4 Prototype Shows Off More Than Ever Before

A developmental prototype of the upcoming Cadillac XT4 has been spied once again, this time wearing no cladding yet plenty of camouflage to disguise its appearance. The removal of the cladding enables us to see even more design details of Cadillac’s upcoming compact crossover.

Out front, the XT4 prototype features a face similar to that of the larger XT5, but a heavy amount of camo disguises the shape of the headlamps, making it unclear whether the models will utilize headlights similar to those on the well-receive Escala concept. The side profile, meanwhile, is definitely similar to that of the XT5, with a rapidly-dropping tailgate and built-in spoiler.

Despite the heavy camo tape, the rear clearly features a set of L-shaped taillamps similar to those on the facelifted 2018 Cadillac XTS. The fixtures start near the roof and then run vertically along the tailgate glass. They then curve inward/horizontally.

Outside of that, we don’t have many more details on the XT4. The crossover will ride on GM’s E2 platform that also underpins the Chevrolet Malibu and Buick Regal. Front-wheel-drive will likely be standard while all-wheel-drive will be optional. Power will likely come from a turbocharged four-cylinder engine as standard, while a V-6 will likely be optional.

We expect the upcoming Cadillac XT4 to launch in calendar year 2018 as a 2019 model year vehicle. A reveal in the first half of 2018 seems most likely.
