The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is the most powerful luxury sedan currently offered by Cadillac. First offered as a 2022 model year vehicle, the CT5-V Blackwing harnesses the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine (production code LT4), though with a slight power-bump compared to the third-generation CTS-V. The biggest distinction from its indirect predecessor, however, is a 6-speed manual transmission, which is standard for the CT5-V Blackwing and was unavailable for the third-gen CTS-V.

First-Generation
The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing kicked off the ultra-high-performance sedan’s first generation as a sort of farewell to the luxury marque’s gasoline-powered era. As stated, the CT5-V Blackwing makes use of the stout and supercharged LT4 small block V8, rated at 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque, which is a slight bump compared to the engine’s output under the hood of a third-gen CTS-V (640 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque).
Notably, the CT5-V Blackwing’s application of the engine now represents its second highest output, surpassing the 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque generated by the sixth-gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and seventh-generation Corvette Z06. However, the Cadillac Escalade-V coaxes a whopping 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque from the same powerhouse, dethroning the CT5-V Blackwing as the most powerful vehicle currently offered by the luxury marque.
Looking ahead, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing will receive a midcycle refresh for the 2025 model year, as exclusively reported by Cadillac Society. The forthcoming model will feature an updated front fascia, with new headlights similar to those seen on the first-generation, pre-refresh Cadillac CT6. In adopting the new headlights, the 2024 CT5-V Blackwing will also feature an uninterrupted vertical light signature, deviating from the current execution that splits the vertical lighting strips into two separate sections on the front fascia. The lower fascia will also be redesigned, with revised intakes, while the rear end design will carry over from the 2022 and 2023 CT5-V Blackwing models.

The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing alos features the fourth generation of Magnetic Ride Control (MR 4.0), with improvements to the front and rear suspension systems. Stiffer spring rates, unique hollow stabilizer bars, higher-rate bushings and more enable a driving experience that isolates the driver from road imperfections, while also providing a precise, engaging connection with the road.
