Just recently brought by 2016 Srx with 54000 miles on it to the dealership that where I bought it and serviced it because the tailgate would not open.they knew from them moment I arrived what the problem was but had never recommended or a simple fix to avoid this problem. Holes need to be drilled into the frame at the back of the vehicle.
Bring it to whoever services your vehicle and have holes drilled in the rear well to avoid destroying the electronics that control the rear hatch. If you are lucky you caught it before it costs you $ 2000to $3300. This is an issue that has been known to exist since 2010 and never addressed. Cadillac has never taken responsibility for this design flaw.
This was my first Cadillac abd unquestionably my last. It is not that I don’t like the vehicle it is that I will never trust Cadillac to stand behind its vehicles and take honest care of its customers. The service department discounted my repair to $2100 from $3300 and thought I should jump with joy. Not the case.
