Cadillac XT4 In China Costs As Much As A Chevy Trax In America

The Chinese auto market is privy to quite a few Cadillac models that aren’t available in North America. For starters, the GT4 crossover, next-gen XT5, and refreshed XT6 are all offered in China, but not in the U.S. In addition to these models, buyers in China also have access to hefty XT4 discounts. In some cases, the price slashing brings the price of a Chinese-market Cadillac XT4 down to the same range as a Chevy Trax or Trailblazer in the U.S.

For reference, Cadillac XT4 pricing in China starts at 229,700 yuan for the base Urban model, which drops to 159,900 after the markdown. This equates to roughly $22,000 USD, or $500 less than the starting price of the 2025 Chevy Trax in base LS trim. The price gap grows to about $2,000 when compared to the MSRP of a 2025 Chevy Trailblazer, which starts at $24,495. Interestingly, the Trailblazer’s base MSRP in the U.S. is closer to the discounted starting price of the mid-range XT4 in Luxury trimmings in China.

The aforementioned XT4 discounts are offered by the manufacturer. In other words, the offers should be available at any participating franchise dealerships in China.

Additional dealer discounts may also be available thanks to an on-going price war in the Chinese auto market. The high level of competition is likely the result of emerging companies that are undercutting the competition in order to gain a foothold in the market.

As a reminder, the Chinese Cadillac XT4 does differ from the one that was sold in the United States prior to its discontinuation. The standard engine for the U.S. model was the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine (production code LSY). This engine is optional for the Chinese model, while the standard motor is a smaller, less powerful 1.5-liter turbo-four that offers about 25 less horsepower.

Those interested in purchasing a brand-new Cadillac XT4 in North America should act sooner rather than later, since 2025 was the final model year for the luxury crossover in this market, with the last XT4 already built (and sold). The small crossover SUV is expected to continue being produced and available in China.
