A bit of automotive history recently sold on Bring a Trailer. Pratt Miller, which headed engineering for the Cadillac race program, recently sold the prototype CTS-V race car. The car was built in 2003 and served as the development platform for Cadillac’s then-upcoming run in the SCCA World Challenge Series.
Here are some highlights and historical facts about the Cadillac CTS-V race car:
- The prototype was instrumental in Cadillac winning the Manufacturer’s Championships in 2005 and 2007
- It was initially equipped with the 6.0L V8 LS6 engine, which was later swapped in favor of 6.0L V8 LS2
- The atmospheric V8 is paired with Hewland five-speed dog-ring manual transmission
- Race-ready enhancements include a vented hood, front spoiler, adjustable rear wing, and flared fenders
- A roll cage, carbon-fiber dashboard, Pi digital dashboard with data logging, and racing seats with harnesses can be found inside
- Also includes Brembo brakes, a coilover suspension with remote reservoirs, and an air jack system
- Comes with extra body panels, spare parts, and replacement differentials
- Still features the classic red and black livery adorned with Cadillac and sponsor logos
- Sold on November 4th on Bring A Trailer for $120,000 to user Ctsvr (quite fitting, we think)
The car’s historical importance and unique feature set certainly make it an appealing choice for collectors and Cadillac enthusiasts.
