California Cops Find Live Python In Cadillac CTS In Sideshow Crackdown: Photos

Inconvenient at best and dangerous at worst, sideshows are informal (and oftentimes illegal) demonstrations of vehicle stunts. Participants block off public roads so they can perform stunts like drifting, burnouts, and races, often drawing the attention of local cops. The Vallejo Police Department (VPD) responded to a sideshow in Vallejo, California, on August 23rd, 2024, and one participating vehicle – a 2007 Cadillac CTS – carried more than just a delinquent driver. A live python was along for the ride.

In a post on social media, VPD detailed the bust. The cops responded to multiple calls about a sideshow happening at the intersection of Mare Island Way and Harbor Way at approximately 11:12 p.m. VPD officers responded with assistance from several neighboring precincts, including the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Air Operations unit.

While officers were on scene, an Air Operations Unit noted that an occupant in a Cadillac CTS, which VPD incorrectly identifies as a CT6 in its post, was aiming a laser at their flight deck while doing burnouts in the road. The Cadillac driver then turned the laser on the officers, beaming it at their eyes.

Officers then attempted a traffic stop, but the CTS fled. After a brief pursuit, the Cadillac CTS finally stopped in Hercules, California, after all of its human occupants bailed out. They left something behind, though: a 10-foot python, which officers discovered in the vehicle’s cabin.

All four suspects were eventually apprehended. The driver of the Cadillac CTS was arrested on multiple charges, including felony evading, while the other three passengers were hit with misdemeanor citations and released from the scene. The CTS was towed, and the python was released back to its owner.

Other CTS drivers have gone viral for pulling stunts that weren’t very well thought out. Last year, a CTS attempted to cut traffic on an exit ramp but high-centered on the median, while another tried to drift on a residential street, but managed to slam into a parked Tesla Model Y before making a run for it.
