Certain units of the 2023 and 2024 Cadillac Lyriq all-wheel-drive (AWD) have been recalled due to an issue with the Electronic Brake Control Module. This recall is related to the stop-sale order currently affecting units of the Lyriq in dealer inventory.
The problem: affected Lyriq AWD units may present with a condition in which certain braking events on dry surfaces at speeds below 25 mph may cause the anti-lock braking system (ABS) to activate when it should not. Subsequently, if the ABS falsely activates and a specific sequence of wheel movements occurs, the luxury crossover’s ABS will continue to release braking pressure in the service brake system.
The hazards: if the ABS activates when it should not and results in reduced brake pressure, the automaker states that in extremely rare cases, the Cadillac Lyriq may have reduced stopping power or complete brake failure, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: certified technicians will inspect affected vehicles and update the Electronic Brake Control Module software. Notably, owners of affected vehicles will have the opportunity to accept these software changes using wireless over-the-air (OTA) technology, or may schedule to have the updates performed at an authorized dealership. At the time of this writing, this software update is not available for 2023 Lyriq units. Cadillac stated that it is already performing the update on 2024 Lyriq units in dealer possession.
Affected components: Electronic Brake Control Module.
Affected vehicles:
- 2023 Cadillac Lyriq
- 2024 Cadillac Lyriq
Number of affected vehicles: a Cadillac spokesperson told Cadillac Society that 21,469 units are affected, of which fewer than 500 units are 2023 models while about 21,000 units are 2024s.

I wonder if this has anything to do with a friend who bought an AWD Lyriq who said it seems to drive funny.
The bugaboo with my RWD Lyriq is it slams on the brakes hard backing up if you go over 2 mph.
Don’t they test these things?
