The Cadillac Society Take
The single-digit drop in Q2 2024 Cadillac sales represents the luxury marque’s third consecutive quarterly contraction in the U.S., where it has been in the red since the fourth quarter of last year. However, the 38,455 deliveries recorded during the second quarter is a notable improvement over Q1, when it recorded 35,451 deliveries.
Cadillac’s Q2 2024 contraction in the U.S. market was driven by a broad decline across the model range, including the best-selling Cadillac Escalade. The full-size luxury SUV accounted for 10,069 combined deliveries during the quarter, down 12.9 percent compared to the 11,555 units during Q2 2023. In fact, all of the luxury brand’s internal combustion models suffered not-insignificant double-digit declines during the quarter, with the sedan lineup seeing the largest year-over-year contraction rates.
Meanwhile, the Cadillac Lyriq again saw a dramatic triple-digit spike to 7,294 units during Q2. The result represents the nameplate’s highest quarterly sales record to date. This also makes the Lyriq the second most popular Cadillac nameplate behind only the Escalade. The luxury crossover was able to achieve this outstanding growth rate due to improved production levels at the Spring Hill plant, leading to improved availability at the dealer level.
