For North America, assembly of the Cadillac XT4 luxury crossover is handled at the Cadillac Fairfax plant in Kansas. However, that facility is due for retooling most of next year, meaning that XT4 production will be paused for the better part of 2025, according to a recent report from The Detroit News (subscription required).
Currently, the XT4 rolls off the same assembly line alongside as its corporate cousin, the Chevy Malibu. Production of the Malibu will be halted starting this fall, and the XT4 will follow suit in early 2025. This will allow Cadillac parent, General Motors, to overhaul the Fairfax plant to produce the next-generation Chevy Bolt EV, which is on track for a 2026 model year launch.

It’s important to note that this temporary production pause does not spell the end for the Cadillac XT4, which was recently refreshed for the 2024 model year. At this time, assembly of the XT4 is fully expected to come back online once the facility is retooled. In fact, Cadillac is confident that it will be able to restart Cadillac XT4 production in late 2025.
“Fairfax will produce both the Bolt EV and XT4 on the same assembly line, which gives GM flexibility to respond to changes in customer demand,” the spokesperson said.
Until that happens, though, the workers responsible for the assembly of the luxury crossover will be laid off. However, a spokesperson stated that affected employees will be “supported according to the provisions of the UAW-GM agreement” in the interim.
The decision to continue Cadillac XT4 production alongside the all-electric, next-gen Bolt EV underscores Cadillac’s recent decision to scale back its ambitious plans to go all-electric by 2030. Instead, the luxury marque intends to offer a lineup of ICE-powered vehicles alongside its EVs for some time to come.

Agreed 100%. When I heard the XT5 was being updated, I was really happy. Then I found out only the Chinese Market would get the updated XT5. Stupid, Dumb, Ridiculous, etc…..

The big question right now, at what point are we not going to be able to order the XT4? November? December?
