Cadillac has released a Service Update to address an issue in certain units of the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq, which may have a problem with water intrusion in the rear of the vehicle.
Assigned N242440290, the Service Update states that certain 2024 Lyriq units may have a condition in which water leaks in through the liftgate or near the cargo area. In order to remedy the problem, a dealership technician will inspect affected vehicles and replace the liftgate glass, as well as affected electrical components, if necessary. This process will take approximately 3.5 hours to complete, and must be performed at an authorized EV dealer by a technician who has completed the relevant training.
It’s important to note that because this is a Service Update, not a recall, it will expire at the end of the vehicle’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty period. Additionally, Cadillac did not reveal how many units of the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq may be affected by this issue.
On a more positive note, owners of the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq can now purchase a roof rack for the electric luxury crossover, and finally take advantage of the clamp points integrated into the vehicle’s door jambs. This handy standalone option runs just over $530.
The 2024 Lyriq rides on the luxury marque’s BEV3 platform, and is assembled at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee for all markets except for China. The 2024 Cadillac Lyriq can be outfitted with either a single Ultium Drive motor on the rear axle or opt to add a second Ultium Drive motor to the front axle, granting all-wheel-drive.
Rear-wheel-drive boasts an approximate driving range of 308 miles from a single charge, delivering 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. Selecting all-wheel-drive grants 307 miles of driving range per charge, along with a much more potent 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque.
