Cadillac Lyriq Australia Launch Could Begin In Early April

The 2025 Cadillac Lyriq will spearhead the luxury marque’s return to Australia and New Zealand after decades of absence in the region. Now, Cadillac Society has learned that the electric luxury crossover will make its debut in Oceania next month.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Cadillac will host a launch event for the Lyriq in Australia and New Zealand on April 8th, 2024. Details surrounding the event are scarce, but it’s possible that the luxury marque will provide more info about the local-market Lyriq on that date. Another possibility involves pre-orders (reservations) opening on that date.

As a reminder, Oceania is set to receive the Cadillac Lyriq directly from the factory as a right-hand drive (RHD) vehicle, marking the very first debut of this configuration in an international market. The RHD 2025 Cadillac Lyriq headed for Australia will still be built at the Spring Hill plant in the U.S. state of Tennessee alongside the left-hand-drive (LHD) variant currently on sale in North America and other markets. To make this possible, the Spring Hill facility is gaining a production line dedicated to RHD models. Once built, the RHD Lyriq will then be exported from the U.S. to Australia.

Production of the 2025 Lyriq will begin on September 9th, 2024 at Spring Hill, and it’s possible that this will also kick off the production of RHD models.

When the 2025 Cadillac Lyriq does finally land in Australia and New Zealand, customers will be able to shop for it at boutique showrooms inside shopping malls known as “experience centers.” With this business model, the luxury marque is able to set itself apart from General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV), an organization operated by Cadillac parent company, General Motors, that is tasked with bringing select GM vehicles to Australia, such as the Chevrolet Silverado and Corvette C8.

Cadillac is expected to offer more electric vehicles in Oceania in the future. In fact, the luxury marque has already filed to trademark the Optiq and Escalade IQ names as well as the Vistiq name in Australia. However, Cadillac does not plan to offer vehicles with internal combustion engines in the region.
