While it’s the general consensus that people looking to have fun with their vehicles should stick to the racetrack, that’s unfortunately not often the case. Public streets just aren’t the best place to try one’s hand at performance driving, and as this second-generation Cadillac CTS driver will probably tell you, it can go south fairly quickly. As caught on camera by a Tesla Model Y, a video posted to the Reddit community, r/IdiotsInCars, shows how easy it is to lose control of a vehicle and wreck someone’s day, along with their car.
It’s not completely clear what the driver was trying to accomplish with this maneuver, but they appear to floor it after coming to a halt at an intersection, perhaps attempting to show off by drifting. As expected, the back end of the rear-drive Cadillac CTS snaps loose as the driver tries to wheel it in a sharp left-hand turn before panicking and overcorrecting. The sedan swings back around to the other direction and careens into the side of the Model Y, whose security system was recording the doomed drift.
After causing significant damage to the Model Y, the Cadillac CTS continues to spin, striking a curb and ending up parked backwards in someone’s driveway. The Cadillac also suffers noticeable damage, and the driver, obviously afraid of being caught, speeds away and leaves the wrecked Model Y to be discovered by its owner.
The original poster of the video indicated that it is original content, meaning that it’s likely the destroyed Model Y is their personal vehicle. They also stated that the incident occurred in San Jose, California, on September 19th, 2023 – and right now, it doesn’t seem like justice has been dealt to the driver of the ill-fated Cadillac, although its license plate was successfully decoded by Reddit users in the video’s comments and traced to a 2008 Cadillac CTS.

Some stupid kid , trying to impress his friend, driving Mommy’s Cadillac. The plate is very clear in the video. My new Blackwing has surround video, but it only works when the car is on. The SD card is in the trunk. I also have a dash cam. I love Teslas cameras.
