Leveraging the luxury marque’s most iconic nameplate, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ represents the second electric vehicle in Cadillac’s lineup as part of its mission to go all-electric by the end of the decade. Cadillac’s first full-size electric luxury SUV is propelled by a 200 kWh battery pack, and unsurprisingly, all that capacity comes at a premium, according to a report from Elements.
The cost of an EV battery pack depends on its composition and chemistry, raw material costs, production cost, packaging complexity and supply chain factors. Specifically, the battery pack in the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ is composed of nickel cobalt magnesium aluminum (NCMA), which typically costs approximately $113 per kWh. As such, the estimated cost of the 200 kWh Escalade IQ battery is $22,540, making it one of the most expensive battery packs on the market.
That figure is quite a bit more than the 100 kWh nickel cobalt aluminum (NCA) battery pack found in the 2023 Tesla Model Y, which costs $12,030. However, it’s more affordable than that of the 2025 Ram 1500 REV, which features a 229 kWh nickel cobalt manganese battery pack estimated to cost $25,853.
As a reminder, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ harnesses a two-motor eAWD configuration good for up to 750 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque with the Velocity Max drive mode activated. Not only does that allow for a zero to 60 mph time of just under five seconds, but it also delivers 8,000 pounds of towing capacity. The 24-module battery pack is good for an estimated 350 miles of range on a full charge.
Pricing for the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ starts at $130,000, including destination and freight charges. Production will commence in summer 2024 at the Detroit-Hamtramck plant in Michigan, now known as Factory Zero.
