2024 Cadillac Optiq: What We Know So Far

As previously reported by Cadillac Society, images of the 2024 Cadillac Optiq were recently leaked online, putting a name and a face to the upcoming luxury crossover EV for the first time. The vehicle is slated for an official debut in late 2023, but to tide you over in the meantime, we outline everything we know and expect of the forthcoming 2024 Cadillac Optiq so far.

Exterior

The 2024 Cadillac Optiq is the latest model to join the luxury marque’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) lineup, following the Lyriq, Celestiq, Escalade IQ and a currently unnamed three-row crossover to slot above the Lyriq.

The recently-leaked images reveal that the Optiq will share design elements from the Lyriq, such as its polygonal LED grille, while other forward-facing lighting elements appear to take after both the Lyriq as well as the refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4

The side profile features a gradually-sloping roofline, sleek door handles and a “kink” or “notch” aft of the C-pillar. The rear end, meanwhile, is unique to the Optiq, with a dual-level tail light arrangement and two spoilers – one at the top of the roof, and another at the bottom of the rear glass.

We should also note that the Optiq was expected to be a small vehicle, similar in size to the XT4. However, we’ve since learned that it’s larger than the XT4 as well as the XT5, making it another “tweener” – a model that competes between segments.

Powertrain

The Cadillac Optiq will ride on a variant of the luxury marque’s BEV3 platform, which currently underpins its larger brother, the Lyriq, as well as the Celestiq and the three-row EV that will slot above the Lyriq. Propelling the Optiq will be a single Ultium Drive motor mounted on the rear axle. It will be available in two power output options – a 150 kW (201 horsepower) or 180 kW (241 horsepower). A dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain is also expected to be offered as an option.

Availability

A world debut of the Cadillac Optiq is expected in the latter half of the 2023 calendar year, and the luxury EV crossover will be sold in the U.S., Canada, the Middle East and China. The model is expected to be produced at two plants, the first in China as part of Cadillac’s joint venture in the country, and the second in North America, most likely the Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico. The Optiq will likely go on sale in North America during the first half of the 2024 calendar year.
