The Cadillac Lyriq has been enjoying plenty of screen time lately, making its small screen debut in the Netflix series Unstable. That isn’t the only place to catch the Lyriq in action, as the luxury electric crossover has recently hit the big screen in Creed III.
As the name suggests, Creed III is the third installment in the Creed series, and the ninth in the Rocky franchise. The movie explores the story of Adonis Creed, played by Michael B. Jordan, who finds himself facing a longtime friend and former boxing prodigy in the ring. As for the Cadillac Lyriq, the electric crossover serves as the protagonists’ ride throughout the film.
“Going into Creed III, we wanted a sponsor that encompasses the same ambition as Adonis, to be fearless,” Jordan says in a short interview snippet. “The Cadillac Lyriq is pushing the narrative as a luxury electric vehicle. It was a great opportunity for us to showcase a brand with a vision towards the future, and Cadillac embodied that.”
As the Lyriq represents the first-ever electric vehicle offerred by the luxury marque, it is bold and fearless indeed. The luxury electric crossover is underpinned by the BEV3 platform and is assembled at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee for all markets except for China.
The Lyriq is currently offered with two powertrain options. The base single-motor setup features one Ultium motor mounted on the rear axle, lending 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque for an estimated 312 miles of driving range. The second is an AWD setup that adds a motor to the front axle, resulting in 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. A high-performance Lyriq-V model is expected to join the lineup in the near future, as Cadillac Society was first to report.
